Ceramic class – hand building
Discover ceramic hand-building techniques and design in the 2-hour weekly pottery classes. The ceramic classes is for anybody who wants to discover their artistic side or develop existing skills in ceramics. All levels are welcome, no previous experience is required. The ceramics hand-building class is led by ceramic artist Lorna MacKay and allows you to dive into art and explore the techniques surrounding clay.
All levels of ability, art classes are held in groups of max. 12
Several hand-building techniques will be demonstrated, including slab-building, coil building and pinch-building. Students will be encouraged to explore these techniques, guided by their individual vision for the work they wish to produce.
Through this journey from conception to completion you will learn:
- Properties of clay
- Preparation of clay
- Techniques of pinching, coiling & slap building
- Application of coloured slips
Missed classes – our offer:
If you miss one of the days due to other appointments you can join one of our other classes within the running block to make up for the missed class.
