Improve your art skills in a fun encouraging environment. Our experienced artists and art lecturers support busy teens by offering a creative environment. The supportive and structured approach helps the young students to expand their creative and artistic experience whilst gently being pushed outside their comfort zones.
Our aim: To help the young students becoming confident with their art and create it reflectively and independently.
The art development class (S1-S3) explores different techniques and artists and their practice to create a broad understanding whilst playing with materials and techniques. The art development & portfolio class (S4-S6) is for further personal artistic growth and also helps students to build their portfolio in preparation to enter colleges and art schools if they wish to do so. We run small classes of up to max 12 students. Five of our recent students have been successfully accepted at the following art schools: London College of Fashion, Edinburgh School of Art and Robert Gordon University Aberdeen. This giving us a 100% success rate so far and we are confident that our other students planning to apply will succeed as well.

“I really enjoy the way Ewen teaches. His supportive approach encouraged me to try new ways of creating artwork, and without him I wouldn’t be heading to art college this year! The atmosphere created in the workshop was perfect for me. Thank you!” Eilidh Motion

“Thank you for the art classes I have attended over the years. Not only have you, Ewen, helped me grow artistically, but also in confidence, in and out of the art classroom. I have thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of activities that weren’t avaialbe to me at school. I am sad to have to stop attending, but will definitely carry on with art at university and after.” Tara Lee
Feedback from a parent of a former students
“My daughter wanted to go to art school from a very early age. There was nothing else she was remotely interested in. When we started to look into what was required for entry, apart from the obvious academic requirements, we soon realised that just working at school was not going to be enough. The portfolio was a massive mountain to climb both in terms of quality and quantity.
We started Jane at Ewen’s portfolio class when she was in 4th year, really to give her a feel for working outside a school environment and to learn from Ewen’s expertise in what is required to actually get in to art school. Your folio has to be diverse, interesting, massively varied and unique. Ewen really helped Jane to experiment and the importance of sketchbooks was reiterated on a regular basis. These are so important for art school applications.
Jane did a year of folio classes in Glasgow too, but to be honest, there is no need to trail to Glasgow when you have an amazing resource here in West Stirlingshire. Jane also attended the life drawing class on a Tuesday night, which again, really helped her drawing mature and gave her experience of drawing people in real time and in real life. Ewen was a massive influence on Jane and everything he told her helped her create a portfolio for both Advanced Higher Art and the more varied collection that was required for Art School applications. Words can’t describe the joy in Jane’s voice when she found out she’d been accepted to Art School. It was a dream come true and she is now in her first year at the Edinburgh College of Art – Fashion Design.
Ewen helped her in every way possible and I can highly recommend art4you to anyone thinking of applying to an Art based course. Balfron High School were wonderful as well and kudos to them but in terms of outside portfolio support, Ewen was brilliant and Jane is so grateful. Thanks to art4you for everything you have done for Jane.” Suzanne Teed
